This term in Technologies the Year 3 students in Yarkiny 2 have been learning about the design process and simple engineering ideas. They were given the task of designing a marble roller that would allow a marble to travel a minimum of two metres.
Students had to brainstorm with their team and come to agreement on the design. They also needed to use design elements that would allow their roller to be structurally stable.
The building was great fun with lots of modifications, rethinks and in some cases complete rebuilds.
Students tested their designs and measured carefully. It was an amazing effort from all teams with the winning team achieving a distance of 6.35m.
Throughout the whole project students worked with their team and learned valuable collaborative skills as well as coming up with lots of great ideas on how to improve their designs. They should be very proud of their efforts.
